I love this community and hope to give back in the form of some useful ontologies (webrings, shrines, fanlistings, etc. could use some semantics) and guides for making simple sites accessible.
How did you find the small web?
I don't think I ever "found" it. It has always been a part of my web diet, but it just grew.
Favorite thing about the small web?
The original motto of the Web was "share what you know". Personal sites feel like a form of self expression, through content, presentation, or both. They're a mix of technical, aesthetic, and literary uniqueness. And they have the best shitposts.
Least favorite thing about the current web?
Poor accessibility, from a visually and cognitively impaired perspective. Examples: flashing lights, animations, excessively high/low contrast, poor keyboard navigability, and a lack of landmarks.
